Some remarks about this volume
The only symbol used in this volume is |
Recommended Literature |
The Recommended Literature may give you further study material to use in your teaching. We did not include any specific western books because they are hardly accessible for us here in Africa. The opinion of the author may not be our position but it may help you in establishing your own view. All the recommended material can be ordered from us.
Which Bible Translation Do We Use?
All quotations from the Bible, unless otherwise specified, are from the NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION, 1984, by the International Bible Society.
Which Translation of the Qur'an Do We Use?
All quotations from the Qur'an, unless otherwise marked, are from the translation by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, New Revised Edition, Amana Corporation, Brentwood, Maryland, U.S.A., 1989.
NB: For those readers using other translations of the Qur'an, or even earlier versions of Abdullah Yusuf Ali's translation we want to point out that the verse numbering may differ by two or three verses in certain chapters. This is especially true for Sura 5.
Islamic writings or their 'translations' are often unintelligable and contain a lot of spelling and grammatical errors. There are also factual errors (e.g. giving of false references etc.). In our quotations we did not correct these, although sometimes we added a [sic], which indicates that we are aware of the mistake, but did not correct it.
For practical reasons we have not included any Arabic texts in this edition.
Some of the arguments presented are taken from other sources than our own which is clearly indicated. We refer to the books in the Bibliography for further details. The Appendix may help to find information concerning a specific subject and related topics.
We wish you God's blessing in your ministry to share the Good News with Muslims.
Your instructors, Gerhard Nehls and Walter Eric
