In this chapter, Jesus is shown to be a prophet by many verses. We do not contest the prophetic office held by Christ, but as a man can be both a brother and a father at the same time, we recognize that Jesus was more tham just a prophet.

We read that when Jesus demanded to know what the disciples thought of Him, a situation which He created to reveal Himself, Peter replied,

"You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Paul in his epistles, in giving us the hierarchical structure of the offices in God's kingdom, tells us that, first are apostles, then prophet, then evangelists, then pastors, then teachers, then those with miraculous gifts, then those with gifts of healing, and so on.

If Christ, the master of the apostles, is merely a prophet, then He is lower than His own students. But this is not the case. Jesus said, "No student is greater than his teacher, but every student, when he is fully trained, will be exactly like his teacher." Who then, can teach apostles? Only God is greater than these. By simple logic, and with the support of all scripture, we conclude that Jesus is God.
