Bukhari vol. II. No. 443 The Prophet passed by two graves and those persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into two pieces, and fixed one on each grave. The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Why have you done so?” He replied, “I hope that their punishment may be lessened until they (i.e., the palm leaves) become dry.”
使者路經兩座墳坑時?，他聽見兩個人在墳坑裏受刑的聲音。使者?：“他們不是因大事受刑，唯罪大惡極者才受酷刑。他們之一，因便溺不檢點；另一個則是因在人們中間撥弄是非。：然後，他拿來一根棗樹枝的綠葉折成兩截，分別插在兩座墳上。使者向問其原委的人?：”我希望他們的刑罰可減輕，直到這些棗樹葉枯乾。“（布哈里聖訓2：1361）
