Bukhari vol. II. No. 443 The Prophet passed by two graves and those persons (in the graves) were being tortured. He then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into two pieces, and fixed one on each grave. The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Why have you done so?” He replied, “I hope that their punishment may be lessened until they (i.e., the palm leaves) become dry.”

使者路经两座坟坑时?，他听见两个人在坟坑里受刑的声音。使者?：“他们不是因大事受刑，唯罪大恶极者才受酷刑。他们之一，因便溺不检点；另一个则是因在人们中间拨弄是非。：然后，他拿来一根枣树枝的绿叶折成两截，分别插在两座坟上。使者向问其原委的人?：”我希望他们的刑罚可减轻，直到这些枣树叶枯干。“（布哈里圣训2：1361）
